“Good bye comfort zone”

The arctic is rough and unpredictable, especially in Winter. Tromsø really showed off from its stormiest side when we were traveling along the coast on the lookout for all sorts of wildlife in December 2017.

After some time we were informed about a group of orcas just a bit outside the coast of Tromsø. I had no choice and joined the crew on this 30 hour expedition to photograph those majestic creatures. There was a queasy feeling around when we boarded Donna Wood in a nearby harbour. Donna is a 100 year old vessel and mostly used on expeditions in Greenland, Iceland and Norway. To put this in a quick personal summary, those 30 hours were probably the most confronting ones of my life. But I loved it.
